Language: The House of Being and the Architect of Our Existence

Language is the house of being, as the philosopher Martin Heidegger once said. It shapes our thoughts, emotions, and connections, granting us access to the essence of reality and human nature. In this blog post, we will explore several impactful quotes that echo this sentiment and discuss how we can use language to build a beautiful and powerful house of existence for ourselves and others. The Foundations: Profound Quotes on Language and Existence Martin Heidegger : "Language is the house of being." John 1:1 : "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Ludwig Wittgenstein : "The limits of my language mean the limits of my world." George Orwell : "Don't use words too big for the subject. Don't say 'infinitely' when you mean 'very'; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite." "Siloam " ; korean army hymn

He answered and said, "A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.”    John 9 : 11

If you have ever been to a Korean military training camp, chances are you might have heard a legendary hymn called "Siloam" being sung with great passion during the worship service. This hymn is not only popular in the military but also widely known throughout the country, often sung in churches and Christian gatherings.

The inspiration for the hymn comes from the Gospel of John, where Jesus heals a man who had been blind since his birth at the pool of Siloam.

The hymn "Siloam" was first created in 1981 and has since become one of the most beloved Christian songs in Korea. It has a simple yet powerful message that reminds listeners of the healing power of Jesus.

Interestingly, this hymn has gained significant popularity among Korean soldiers undergoing basic training. The Nonsan training camp, which is the primary training ground for Korean army recruits, has a church that holds a worship service every week, where the hymn is passionately sung by the soldiers.

Apart from the military, the hymn has also inspired various artists and musicians. The Korean CCM band, "Pride Band," inserted a part of the Japanese anime movie "Your Name's" OST "Zenzenzense" into the middle of the "Siloam" song, giving the hymn a unique twist.

The video attached below is a relatively calm performance by a school band from a Protestant foundation called Handong Global University.
